Artwork Brings Fresh Perceptive To Ortho Central and NMotion at the Young Family Athletic Center
Art, health, and sports all are on full display in Norman Regional’s spaces inside the Young Family Athletic Center (YFAC)!
The Center is home to an Ortho Central clinic, Ortho Central Physical Therapy, and NMotion Sports and Human Performance Center.
The spaces boast fresh graphics, walls of glass that give spectacular views of the basketball courts, and three unique pieces of art by local artists!
Meet the Artist: Desmond Mason
Steps from the Young Family Athletic Center basketball courts is art created by former NBA player Desmond Mason.
Mason was a standout basketball player at Oklahoma State University. He appeared in three NCAA tournaments. In 2000, Desmond was drafted by the Seattle Supersonics and played ten years in the NBA. During his time in the NBA, he also played for the Oklahoma Thunder
Desmond is a talented artist who works in the mediums of paint and ceramics.
The Norman Regional Health Foundation commissioned this artwork on behalf of the wishes of a grateful patient. We hope that it will inspire athletes of all ages and abilities to Dream Big.
Meet The Artist: Robin Marsh
Veteran TV journalist Robin Marsh loves sharing people's stories on KWTV News9 every day. During the pandemic, Robin started painting and fell in love with the creative process of telling stories also through her artwork. She uses color to bring joy to people.
If you look closely… Robin’s artwork here incorporates the motto, “Another Day, Another Opportunity.” Norman native and NBA player Trae Young shares those words on social media daily to guide him to be an elite athlete.
Robin says she found a way to make these art pieces reflect Trae Young’s dedication not only to his sport but to the people who walk through the Young Family Athletic Center.
